I’m Vinanti Shah but people fondly call me Vini. After working 15 years as a Procurement Consultant, I ditched my job to pursue my passion and then there was no such thing as Monday Morning Blues! The wanderlust in me kicked in and I began exploring right from the hidden treasures to the iconic corners of the world, capturing stories and emotions through my lens.
In awe of the natural world, I would always start visualising the different elements as wearable art. This evoked a thought in me to start my own label. That is when I rolled the dice and in 2016, my beautiful ‘REN’ was born. Since then, the world has become my canvas as I draw most of my inspirations while travelling.
I wanted to create a brand that is not just different and unique but with a purpose and I wanted each piece to tell a story and have a soul. In REN, you will find the amalgamation of different elements of nature, culture and heritage from different walks of life that spells contemporary. REN (Reh-n) is derived from the Japanese origin which means Lotus and symbolises Love, Purity and Beauty. And true to its name, each piece is carefully designed and handcrafted with love in 18kt gold plated semi-precious stones by artisans in India, without compromising on its purity and beauty. Here’s a little secret, every design is made in limited quantities.
I always wanted to do my bit towards sustainability and also my country. Each piece that’s handcrafted by Indian artisans for REN comes in cotton, handmade, reusable bags. These bags are made by a group of women from a small drought struck village in India, who stepped up and started stitching to sustain their families. At REN, we are crafting jewellery, the livelihood of Indian artisans, and a sustainable future while preserving the artisans legacy. Every time you buy anything from REN, you indirectly will be supporting these families and Indian artisans.
